Middle room have been busy preparing music for the Communion preparation masses and encourages students to practice at home as much as possible We have been learning about the history of food and farming and have completed a science experiment in making butter to empathise with the challenges of producing food in our grandparent's time.This term we have also had visitors: RSA talk Knex work shops Patricia Forde author visit In an effort to reach our goal for the active flag our classroom participates in frequent movement breaks such as DEAD (drop everything and dance) and HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercises to raise heartbeat in a short space of time

Visit to Wind Turbines Derrybrien

Last Thursday the Middle Classes had a wonderful outing to Derrybrien Wind Farm managed by the ESB. Eamonn Hansberry drove the bus to the windfarm where we were warmly welcomed by 3 enthusiastic members of staff.
First of all each of us put on a high vis vest and a hard hat for safety reasons. We stood right beside a wind turbine  which was 75m tall. There are 70 turbines and each one supplies 650 homes with energy for one year.
We also went inside one of the turbines. There was a very long ladder which is used for going to the top for maintenance.
